Why do you love working together?

Lisa: It is wonderful to see my daughter most days (lots of mothers don’t have this luxury). Hayley is a hard working member of the team – we know each other’s nuances and often know what each other is thinking before we even say it. She also had a wickedly funny sense of humour and brings huge energy to the team.
Hayley: I love working with Mum, we tend to bounce ideas off each other well and can always come up with a solution to any difficulties that we encounter. It’s great to have her support in the office and I always know I can count on her for a morning coffee catch up!

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

Hayley: It’s usually celebrated with lots of laughs, a few wines, and a good meal. I’m sure we will follow suit again this year.

How does your mother/daughter inspire you every day?

Lisa: She is brilliant with the customers and so incredibly confident – people are drawn to her and I admire her great style.
Hayley: Mum is an incredible woman; she inspires me to grow without barriers and puts a focus on my career development. She is also my fiercest supporter, and advocate in everything that I do.

Tell us which Flooring Xtra products you love?

Lisa: For me, timber is my favourite and I love the natural Oak finishes in the Quick-Step Palazzo range. For carpet, I’d select Bremworth Transpire Inspire every time!
Hayley: My favourite timber at the moment is the Creative Flooring oiled timber in Half Graphite, this looks divine in every style but especially herringbone.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

Hopefully pretty similar to every other year. A nice, relaxed day with a family activity in the afternoon and a nice dinner at home cooked by the girls.

How do you juggle career with being a mother?

Just keep juggling!!! I don’t think I’ll ever get to the bottom of my to-do-list nor my inbox. Fortunately, the girls are very responsible, are helpful around the house and can manage most of their own admin! We just try and work together as a family team.

How does your family inspire you every day?

Wayne and the 3 girls just love life and are so busy. They are so enthusiastic and embrace every opportunity. Giving everything life has got to offer your best efforts is inspirational to me. It makes our life very crazy, but very fun.

Tell us which Flooring Xtra products you love?

I love changing up the dining room and lounge for the Winter and making it cosy. This year, I’m planning to switch out the summer weight rug under the dining table for a chunky wool rug such as the Mackenzie or Wanaka rug.

What are you looking forward to most this Mother’s Day?

My excited kids running in to wake me with handmade cards. Our eldest will have likely made me a coffee and breakfast, she is a gem like that.

How do you balance your career with being a mother?

I love having our kids involved in our business. If it’s helping on the weekend or coming in to say hi to the team, having them feel included works for us. Balance isn’t very easy to achieve but allowing our home and work life to mix is easy.

How does your family inspire you every day?

My eldest daughter is a very motivated and mature girl. Knowing that she is watching and learning from her father and I is very inspiring to me. I want her to see that she can achieve anything and that life comes with challenges that we just have to push through and learn from. Also, it’s a bit cute when our 4-year-old daughter pretends to be a businesswoman while playing with her toys.

Tell us which Flooring Xtra products you love?

This is a hard one. I have many favourites including Ripples and Samurai carpets from Bremworth, but as a mum of 3 I would still lean towards a cut pile SDN, our son can be rather messy! I love ALL Quick-Step laminates especially the warmer colours like Natural Varnished Oak. As for rugs I have fallen in love with the Mornington circle rugs that can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Why do you love working together?

I have worked with my mum for 14 years and love it! We have very different job roles but always helping each other out and trying to come up with ways to better our business. We always have lots of fun & laughs. Who better to support you in business than your mother.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?
We normally organise to have lunch or dinner together with our family. I always like to book mum and appointment at the day spa which she loves.

How does your mother/daughter inspire you every day?

Mum is everyone's go-to person, she takes on so much and handles it like a champ. Jude is like a mum to everyone in our business, she is very supportive and caring.

Tell us which Flooring Xtra products you love?

I love laminate! I have put Quick-Step Impressive in Soft Oak Medium throughout my house and it looks amazing. My all-time favourite carpet for as long as I remember is Bremworth Charmeuse in the colour Shadow, topped with the Roxburgh Flint Grey rug for a bit of texture. Also love a couple of Anise cushions in the colour Taupe.

What are you looking forward to most this Mother’s Day?

Spending a fun, relaxing day with the family! Might start off with breakfast in bed and end with a lovely meal cooked by my daughter Alyssa and son Robbie, with some help from Dad Darryl.

How do you balance your career with being a mother?

We have great routines as a family. We are extremely grateful for the help we get from Grandparents. The best thing that is so rewarding, is that we all work together to make things happen. The more we work together means the more time we can have spare to create special memories of our family passions.

How does your family inspire you every day?
To be honest, my family is my driving force. They are my world and I would do anything for them. They know I strive to succeed and they are with me all the way with the career I am in. They inspire me to do my best in anything I undertake which in turn will be how they will learn to live their life.

For carpet, there are so many great options. You can’t go wrong with either a Bremworth or Wools Of New Zealand loop pile. My favourite laminate range is Quick-Step Impressive – oh the colour choices!!

Why do you love working together?

Mel: When Jorja started working for us, she had no retail or flooring experience, so I love seeing the growth that has happened for her both professionally and personally since she made the change. It’s always enjoyable having her in the work place, she brings a sense of fun to the work environment. She also has no problem questioning me and challenging my ideas which means I’m kept on my toes.

Jorja: I love working with my mum because she's so supportive and knowledgeable. It makes working in an industry that requires so much detail and information much easier. I also love how easy it is to grab a coffee or lunch, something we've never had the time to do before working together!

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

Mel: With great food, good wine and lots of laughs (and probably me spending my money on Jorja 😊)

Jorga: Usually, our Mother's Day is spent together and filled with plenty of giggles and lots of shopping, I'm sure this year will be not any different!

How does your mother inspire you every day?

Mel: I love her positive attitude, she’s a quick learner and keen to share ideas within the work place. She has no problems giving new challenges ago, something that I’m not that good at, so she is often encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone

Jorja: My mum is powerful, strong and brave - She truly inspires me to follow in her footsteps and grow to be an incredible wāhine like herself!
