About Baya Rugs & GoodWeave

In today's homes, open-plan spaces seamlessly connect kitchens, dining, and living rooms. To avoid an overwhelming or barren feel, rugs are essential for breaking up these areas and grounding furniture, creating distinct 'zones' within your home.

The resurgence of hard flooring makes rugs a staple addition, offering extra comfort and warmth. Often considered the 'icing on the cake,' rugs can complete a room that feels unfinished. They add colour, pattern, and texture, bringing visual interest and an extra layer to your interior design.

Baya & Goodweave:

Our rug supplier Baya, is proud to be licensed by GoodWeave, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ending child labour and offering educational opportunities to children in rug weaving communities around the world.

Where a rug has been handwoven, which the large majority of our rugs are, the GoodWeave certification brings you peace of mind that your rug has been woven by a skilled artisan who has been paid a fair wage, and works in clean and safe conditions. It also guarantees absolutely no child labour has been used.

Keeping children off looms is one of the key focuses of GoodWeave and a percentage of the rug’s price is attributed to supporting children’s education in weaving communities and rescuing children in trapped labour.

The globally recognised programme has been carrying out this important work for over 20 years, the founder receiving a Nobel Peace Prize for the extraordinary initiative.

Your handwoven Baya rug will carry a GoodWeave label which displays a unique code certifying that it has been constructed ethically and fairly, traceable back to producer. We implore you to ensure that any handwoven rug that you purchase carries this GoodWeave certification.
