From 11 December 2023, new regulations for building product information commence. The Building Amendment Act 2021 introduced new minimum information requirements for impacted building products to demonstrate compliance with the building code, with the intention to improve product knowledge and decision making by building consent authorities, building owners, builders and designers.

The full regulations are outlined at legislation.govt.nz in the Building (Building Product Information Requirements) Regulations 2022. For Aotearoa New Zealand based manufacturers and importers of building products impacted under the regulations, this will necessitate the creation and online-hosting of evidence-backed disclosure information for building products.
